A good satchel is the telltale symbol of treasure hunters and explorers. Novels, movies and even children's books depict adventure seekers with a trusty crossbody bag to carry maps, provisions and tools of the trade. I create modern bags for adventure-seeking people to be prepared for whatever each day brings. Each bag is handmade using repurposed apparel leather or scraps sourced from a furniture company and vintage or pre-loved belts provide the foundation for bag straps. I continue to explore new artistic techniques dedicated to repurposing and upcycling existing materials to keep the environmental impact of my business low and contribute these ideas to the growing movement toward sustainable fashion. 

Krissy Maier is a full-time artist based in Locust Grove, Virginia. She received her Bachelor's degree in American Studies from Kenyon College and has been working as a professional artist since 2006. She is a self-taught craftsperson in multiple mediums, including sewing, leather smithing, and various jewelry making techniques and exhibits her work nationally.
